Sunsets...And the Future? By Thea Woehr

When I look up and see the cotton candy filled skies, I think of all the possibilities for you and I.

How we could do whatever we want.

Be whoever we want to be.

With nothing or no one in our way.

To choose the path that you want to take, not the path that others choose for you.

When I see the blazing sun beaming through the darkened shadowy trees, I still think of you and me.

And the people we could be.

So take my hand, and come on a journey filled with not only adventure, but with hope and optimism.

Together we can set ourselves free, while being the people we want to be.

You and me.

It’s almost dawn, so let’s run along, and seek our fate.

A fresh start.

Clean slate.

The future is ours; and it awaits.

Kindness Over Violence By Thea Woehr

Why are people so damn mean?

Why is it funny to tear down someone’s self esteem?

When in the end does nothing but hurt them.

Not just physically, but emotionally.

We should lift each other up.

Lift up ones spirits.

Learn from one another.

And be kind together.

Love thy neighbor as thyself.

Be kind.

Be brave.

Love one another as god has done for us.

Love is greater than violence.

Love is greater than hate.

We should rejoice in gods love and name, and honor his word.

Be kind to one another, and do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I Was That Baby God Had Saved

By Thea Woehr

I was born quite small, premature to be exact.

Yes, a one-pound baby, which is let alone a fact.

This is truly a rarity and quite a surprise,

That a one-pound baby did not die?

Well, this was a surprise and quite a shock,

People went to spread the word that God had struck.

He was with my mother and by her side,

While he said,

“This baby of yours is going to stay alive.”

Everyone was amazed as they cheered, and were in awe.

My family had wept and thanked God above.

I was that miracle baby that God had saved.

And I have honored and thanked him ever since that day.

He blessed me with a life, that could’ve been taken away.

Something By Marah Lewis

Be a good student she’d say.

Get straight A’s

Get honors

Get awards for me to show off

It was never about me, it was always about my grades.

Nobody Said Life Was Ever Easy
By Thea Woehr

Everyone said life was going to be great, that we would live it to the fullest, and have no mistakes.

But they were wrong.

Here i am laying in bed, cold and weak.

Wounded and meek.

Longing for the “great days to come.”

They said keep your head up kid, keep dreaming.

Still a kid at heart, but my child-like imagination has lost it’s meaning overnight.

Sometimes dreams don’t come true, when after all it’s just a concept we’ve become accustom to.

Dreams are just fictional fairy tale universes that dance about in our heads, waiting to come back to taunt us, after we’ve failed ourselves instead.

Love is a Beautiful Mess By Thea Woehr

Love is such a fickle thing.

It changes year after year.

Breaks your heart, and tears you in two.

But it’s also funny.

How it tickles your funny bone once in a while, and you finally Think things might work out.

But they don’t.

No matter how old or how young we all are, love is complicated.

And it always will be.

Its indescribable.

Unconditional.

Colorless.

Unbearable.

So how do we know if it’s real?

We will know love when we feel it.

When the moment is right.

We will feel it.

And accept it as our own.

But for now, i’m still figuring it out myself.

And i’ll keep an eye out for it.

I’m only a teenager, so for me, love is fake.

It’s not real.

It’s fictional.

It’s a fairy tale.

It’s only a powerful and scary word.

That everyone is afraid to say.

But i’ll fall.

In love that is.

One day.

Or i’ll be flat on my face somewhere longing to find it still.

The journey will be long.

But in the end it’ll be worth the wait.

Love.

It sounds stupid.

But i’ve seen how it’s changed every human being to ever live on this planet.

You get sucked in, and cannot break free from it.

It’ll haunt you.

Taunt you.

All you want.

But it’ll never leave.

Like our childlike instincts,

It’ll stick by our sides forever.
